The N-terminal of the SNAP-25 protein is mimicked; SNARE complex formation is then competitively inhibited, and acetylcholine release at neuromuscular junctions falls.

FAQ
On wrinkle reduction, how does SNAP-8 stand against Botox?
Topical SNAP-8 reaches up to 63% wrinkle depth reduction; injected Botox reaches ~95%+. Botox is also faster, at 3–7 days, and lasts longer, at 3–4 months. SNAP-8 needs 4–6 weeks, and its effects fade 2–4 weeks after discontinuation. As a non-invasive alternative it lands nearer strong topicals than true equivalence with Botox.
Does SNAP-8 damage facial expression, or is normal movement retained?
Natural expressions are maintained. Acetylcholine release is reduced, as with Botox, but topically at the site of application rather than systemically by injection. The mechanism is the same; localized application leaves movement control intact. Expressions are slightly relaxed where the product goes, not frozen as under heavy Botox use.
Does a 3% or a 10% SNAP-8 concentration give faster results?
Higher concentrations of 5–10% act faster and more aggressively, at a greater risk of irritation. The usual start is 3–5%, with tolerance assessed from there; a step up follows after 2–3 weeks where tolerance is good. This reference warns that many commercial products hold subtherapeutic concentrations, which makes the actual SNAP-8 content worth verifying before purchase.
Is SNAP-8 used year-round, or cycled?
Continuous use of topical SNAP-8 is what maintains the result. Effects fade 2–4 weeks after discontinuation, so use has to be ongoing. Topical application carries no accumulation risk and no GABAergic desensitization, unlike injectable peptides. Indefinite use as part of a skincare routine is workable.
